Redfish from a Canoe!

Here is a post from Curtis about fishing from his canoe:
-
I am 14 and love to fish. Usually I go offshore with my dad but I also surf fish. One day my fishing buddy and I decided it was calm enough to use my canoe in the surf. I would not recommend this to anyone who does not have experience in saltwater fishing and canoeing. First we hooked into what looked like a nine foot shark. It bit through the steel leader! Then we caught a few small reds under 30 inches. My friend was getting restless because we bet his uncle we would catch a fish large enough to spool most casual anglers. At about seven in the morning one of my clickers started to go off. Due to the fact that my clicker did not sing he thought it was a catfish. My gut told me it was not. Needless to say it wasn't. The large fish began towing us around. I through out the fish anchor but it never caught in the mud and sand. The fish eventually tired out because of the thirty pound test line I was using, and it gave up and allowed us to put him in the canoe. I have had the joy of catching many, many, many bull reds over forty inches, but catching a forty-five inch red in a canoe is a memory I will never forget.
Curtis event sent us a picture. Has anyone else ever caught a big fish from a canoe or kayak in the surf? Comment below!

This fish was caught in Mississippi - they allow one oversized fish per person.
