Dealing with Offshore Thunderstorms
Saturday October 20, 2007
You’re twenty miles offshore in a small fishing boat and there is only one path back to the dock. The problem is – a big thunderstorm has built between you and the dock. What do you do? The decisions you make at this point could literally save your life. What are those decisions?

radio the coast guard, batten down the hatches, run for shore as fast as possible.
This happened to us two months ago. My decision was not difficult. First, I keep track of the weather patterns and I knew the same thing happened the day before(sea breeze front). We traveled South seven miles to avoid the darkest part that did capsize another boat. We also had a parcial lightning strike, partner was holding the tee top and felt it, but we did make it in safely.
