Follow me on:

It's that time of year - time for the fish to begin showing up in the surf. Schools of baitfish make their way north up the Atlantic coast, and predator fish follow right behind. It's sort of like a moving cafeteria to these predators - food on the hoof so to speak... Read more...

Well stated Ron! From a different perspective… If you travel up the “loggerhead” ladder, you will find that this is a direct attack by the radical people voted into office by this country.

At the recent Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission meeting, there was a lot of testimony about the throngs of red snapper in Florida’s waters. But… In the same manner that the FWC admittedly rules the commercial net fishing community (without ANY science and by “politics only,”), the FWC and the recreational fishermen in Florida are getting to experience the exact same type of injustice from the Federal Government. When a fisherman pointed that fact out, the FWC sat there with egg on their face and nothing to say. NO one deserves to be ruled by “politics,” and we will be fighting these radical recreational policies side by side with your industry.
Once again Ron, excellent article! Keep educating and entertaining the public!

I live and retired here in Tennessee but love my Saltwater fishing trips once twice a year . What I miss is the big fishing boats from 45 to 85 feet you can go out fish with friends 8 to 12 hours at a decent price . Where have they gone in the gulf of Mexico . They or still on the pacific coast . Gulf of Mexico would be a great place to even anchor old barges as fishing platforms to fish on reefs or sunken ships . Where is the entrepreneur in fishing anymore . Hay packaged trips to fish these kind of trips might be a great idea as well .
