He takes us through the basic biology and history of the fish and the fishery. With some really superb black and white photographs, he portrays the fish in all of its habitats, and does so with more than a hint of humor thrown in.
Captain Joe takes you to all the areas from Texas to New England and every place in between. His knowledge of the fish and how to catch them is obvious as he takes us through all of his techniques and baits.
He even has a chapter on spearfishing which by the way he does not recommend:
Some anglers have realized with a shock that hooked cobia have a tremendous dislike of being gaffed into a boat. But heres a little known, true fact: they really dont like being speared!
I am really impressed with the knowledge this book contains. Any novice looking to catch a cobia would be hard pressed to find a better handbook.
Perhaps my favorite part of the book is the compilation of old and new pictures. I found myself studying all the pictures, not just for the cobia portrait but also for a lot of history that each picture represents.
If you are looking for a great book to add to your collection and to add to your angling knowledge, the Cobia Bible cannot be beat. This one goes along with his previous Kingfish and Snapper Bibles. Jump on this one!
Contact Captain Joe direct at 352-379-8646 to purchase a copy of his Cobia, Kingfish or Snapper Bibles, or for a copy of his newest book for Florida Sportsman Magazine titled Snapper/Grouper. It even includes an hour long DVD!
