Sometimes spoons and baits will twist your line so badly you can hardly fish.  Here's how to fix that.

Difficulty Level: easy      Time Required: 10 minutes

1. While heading out or back in the boat, take the outfit that has the twisted line and place it in a rod holder.
2. Remove all of the terminal tackle from the line.
3. Open the bail or free spool and begin stripping line from the reel.  The line must go through all of the eyes on the rod.
4. Allow the line to enter that water behind the boat while you run.  The friction of the water will strip even more line off the reel.
5. Let as much line strip from reel as necessary to go beyond the point at which the twisting occurs.  Then close the bail.  This could be several hundred yards of line.
6. Let the line run behind the boat for several minutes.  The water will untwist the line for you.
7. Reel the line back on the reel.  The twisted line will be straight now.

1. Watch for boats behind you and crossing your wake.  If you have several hundred yards of line out, they may cut it.
2. Speed is not important as long as it is above idle speed.  At idle speed the water will not pull your line off the reel.
