| Lightweight Reel that Packs a
Punch
I
really do like these reels. I own a number of them and they do
double duty for me each year.
During
the months of June, July, and August, I spool them with fifteen
pound line for king mackerel trolling. The drag stands up to
the long runs these fish make when first hooked. They are also
light enough to work the fish back to the boat standing up on the
bow.
When
the kings leave, I respool with forty or fifty pound line and head
for the wrecks and artificial reefs. Many of my friends take
much heavier reels, but I find the 320GT2 works just fine. It
has enough power to wench a grouper off the bottom, yet it is light
enough that it does not wear you out reeling up in 100 feet of
water. The Penn 4/0 and 6/0 reels used by my friends are two
to three times heavier and a lot bulkier.
I
have caught some really nice fish on these relatively light reels,
and they work extremely well for me. I like the level wind
feature absent on Penn's big boys. I also like the simple
cleaning and lubricating routines.
Try these
reels for your light trolling needs, and see if they work as well
for you. |
