Specs and speckled trout - here are the links to help you catch them.
Tide Runner Seatrout
I was fishing with artificial lures on a mud and oyster flat at high tide. Normally I pick up a few what I call “tide runners”. These are usually really big fish that feed right at the high tide for about an hour. They are usually also spotted seatrout.

Using Artificial Lures for Spotted Seatrout
Artificial lures for seatrout. I am quizzed quite a bit about how I use artificials to catch trout. While live bait will almost always catch fish, I can usually catch as many fish on artificials as I do on say, live shrimp. And, at the price of live shrimp lately, artificials are far more economical. For around $12.00 I can get enough live shrimp to fish for a day. For much less than that I can buy a lure that I can use over and over.

Catching Cold Water Seatrout
Trout school up in cold water and remain relatively stationary. They still have to feed, and they usually do so when there is a current created by tidal flows. They often seek out the deepest inshore water available and sit close to the bottom. The deeper water, while still cool will be comparatively warmer than the surface water on cold days.

Changing Fishing Plans and Chasing Seatrout
Study the fish you catch and their patterns. Take note of the time of day, the tide stage, and water conditions. The fish you are catching didn’t just happen by while you were there. The fact is you just happened by when they were there! Chances are good they will be there again on a similar tide, current and weather situation!

All About Seatrout - Fishing for Seatrout
Seatrout are members of the drum family – a distant relative to a redfish. There are several close varieties, including spotted seatrout, yellow mouth, sand, silver, and several varieties of weakfish. They all use their air bladder to “drum”, making grunting noises that scientists believe relate to schooling and spawning behavior.

Trout on the Flats
We were fishing Florida Bay out of Flamingo in the Everglades National Park, fishing for seatrout over the grass flats just south and east of Carl Ross (Sandy) Key. We had been drifting with the incoming tide over a stretch about 200 yards long, catching trout on live shrimp and popping corks. The turtle grass in the water in this area makes it very difficult to fish with plugs or jigs, so we opted for shrimp.

Two Lures for Trout Seatrout Fishing
I was presented with an interesting dilemma on a recent trip. I was in a school of seatrout on a falling tide and I could catch them on either of two lures that I had. One was a blue and silver suspending Rapala. The other was a swim tail grub on a jig head in an electric chicken color.

Did you decide to put away the fishing tackle when the first freeze came through? Are you one of the many people who think that cold water makes fishing impossible? Or, are you one of the anglers who know where to find and catch seatrout in cold water?

Seatrout Hideaway
Seatrout are known for their habits. If you catch some seatrout in a particular location, chances are really good that you can find them there again in the same location on the same tide. Many seatrout anglers depend on these habits to be assured of a good catch.
