A Favorite Snook Fishing Hole
I was walking the bank of Snapper Creek heading out to Biscayne Bay from Old Cutler Road. Every afternoon after school, I would head there with my spinning outfit and a few white bucktail jigs. I was fishing for snook, and there were plenty of them there to be caught.

Snapper Creek Snook
A number of years ago, too many for me to ponder, we fished the banks of Snapper Creek where it entered Biscayne Bay south of Miami for snook. Mangroves and Australian pines lined the bank of what was actually a canal that was dug as part of a flood control project in the 50s.

The Snook of a Lifetime
We were on the east edge of the heavy water flow at Cape Sable in about 3 feet of water, and snook were breaking the surface all around us chasing small schools of mullet. This was unusual for snook; they normally dont feed in this area on an outgoing tide. But, it was also unusual for all the mullet to be coming out of the canal. To this day we have never seen mullet there again on an outgoing tide.

Sebastian Inlet Snook
Sebastian Inlet is located about half way down Florida's East Coast. It is the only inlet from the Atlantic to the Florida Intracoastal Waterway for many miles in both directions, and as such, it becomes a gathering place for both baitfish and predator fish. And on September 1, every year it also becomes a gathering place for snook fishermen.

Capt. Chris Asaro's article on catching old linesides at night. Not a much bigger thrill than hooking up to a 30 pound freight train in the dark!
