Guide Review - MirrOlure S51MR Series III
Now the L&S Bait company has improved on this classic lure by adding holographic foil and some realistic scaling patterns. I have been fishing with several of them over the past month.
Admittedly, the fishing has been tough because of my local weather. But, I was still able to make some good catches of seatrout and a few redfish. On one trip I got into a school of bluefish - in the three pound range. I could not make a cast and get my red and white Series III back to the boat without a hookup.
I like the color schemes that are available. Unlike so many other lure makers, L&S offers colors that actually catch fish. The chartreuse CFPR and the number 11 red and white colors consistently produced for me. The seatrout could not stay off that red and white.
I used the nose line attachment up against some oyster bars. This new feature lets me work the lure in shallower water than the top line attachment.
The bottom line is that I now have several Series III lures in my tackle box. They work very well. I use a stop and go twitching retrieve that allows the bait to sink slightly during the stop. That nose connection brings the lure back up when I twitch again.
You can't go wrong with an improved old standby lure.
