The best way.

Use cinder blocks. There cheap and effective. If it gets hung up the worst your gonna loose is 20 bucks for a new rope.

foul anchor

tie anchor from the front bring line back to end of anchor and wrap 3olb. test line around the line and anchor. if you get caught use boat to break 3olb test line and then you can pull anchor from the front.

Hung Anchor Method, circa 1958

1958 ~ Bahia Honda Bridge, Fla Keys When all else fails, try my Dad's method: Send your Kid down the anchor line to stand on the bottom and yank that sucker free. Current wasn't running strong yet, and the hammerheads were busy elsewhere.

float bouy

Once you motor your anchor loose from the bottom you can stick a float buoy to your anchor rope with a carabiner and drive away thereby sending the buoy out till it hits the anchor chain and floats your buoy making it easier to retrieve your anchor since now it if floating to you as you pull rather then dead weight.

hung anchors

best way I have found is to pull at it from different angles. I have used to motor to circle the anchor keeping the rope out of the prop. loosen and tighten the rope as you circle the hung anchor.
