Every now and then readers send in some "good stuff" as the saying goes. My days in the military many, many years ago, left me a little leery when someone said they had a sea story for me. You can always tell a sea story, the saying goes, because it will always begin with "This is no lie...", or words to that effect!
Well, Leo Kerwin didn't say sea story, but he's got a good one for us. I wonder how many more of you have a story like this?
This one didn't get away but it should have
Story by Leo J. Kerwin
"During the month of October I was busy wade fishing sand bars off the northern end of Pine Island in Charlotte Harbor, Florida. On this particular day I was fishing with a buddy of mine from Pine Island, and we were having a good day each catching a few reds and trout. I was pulling in a small trout on the surface appearing to be about twelve to fourteen inches long. Just before the fish reached me a very large redfish broke water and swallowed the trout. My buddy, Tom, heard the splash as the red ate the trout and asked what I had. When I told him, first he said, Are you sure? Then he said, You will pull that trout out of his mouth and lose him.
"Well to make a long story longer I fought the fish for one hour and twenty minutes landed it and of course showed it to Tom. The fish was forty inches in length and twenty-two pounds in weight. He went on his merry way after I looked in the boat for the camera I forgot to bring.
"I don't know how many readers have had this kind of action with a redfish. All I know is, I never had it happen before and don't expect to have it again.I know it is hard to believe, but it is TRUE."
Leo, I believe you! I'm just not sure everyone else will, but I believe you!
Have you got a similar story, or a story that's just a little hard for everyone to swallow? Send it to me by clicking here or on the Reader Submission page. I'll let everyone have a chance to read it!
Our Trivia Contest will return as soon as I get some more prizes to give away!
