New Years Resolutions

Given the new year and my bent for fishing, here is my list of resolutions

By Ron Brooks, About.com

  1. Take more time to prepare for a fishing trip. I always seem to leave something home that I really need on the water.
  2. Wash the boat down after every "bloody" catch. Nothing is harder to remove than dried-on fish blood.
  3. Teach my grandson how to hold a fishing rod. This may be difficult since he only turns two in February!
  4. Buy less bait. I always seem to bring bait home with me. Maybe I need to simply try artificials for several trips!
  5. Take more pictures. I always take my camera, but just like the last trip, I failed to take it out when we were actually catching fish!
  6. Teach a kid to fish. This is my special resolution. I'm going to pick a neighborhood kid that needs some help and take him fishing.
  7. Pay more attention to my wife. Even after thirty-four years of marriage, I still end up ignoring her when I am getting ready to go fishing. To prove this one, I am taking her to a movie on New Years Eve!
  8. Watch more sunrises. We all tend to rush wherever we are going, including that next fishing spot. I'm going top relax and take in the beauty of more sunrises this year.
  9. Catch a sheepshead on a fly. I really am going to try to do this one.
  10. Clean the garage. My wife made me put this one in. Note that it is the last one on the list!
