Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament

BellSouth sponsored event looks like a winner

By , About.com Guide

So much for my Scarce Kingfish theory below. It appears the fish arrived right along with the tournament start time today!

Several fish over forty pounds were weighed in and around 300 of the 900 boats weighed a fish. Many boats had a fish to weigh but got cut off the weigh in by not getting to the check in boat in time. I’m told there were a number of boats idling within shouting distance trying to check in, but the process for each boat took long enough that time ran out. My son was one of those unfortunate anglers!

Jason Marsh, one of my fishing partners weighed in a 33.65 pound fish and at this writing was listed in tenth place overall and 1st place in the boats under 23 feet. He has an excellent chance at not just finishing in the money, but a real shot at the aggregate weight prize.

Final day is tomorrow and an update will be posted here.
